Preliminary FIS & DFIRM Review and Appeal Process:
The mapping process can be broken down into four stages: Scoping, Map Production, Preliminary Maps, and Effective Maps. Once engineering and map production has been performed, each community will receive a set of printed preliminary map panels, preliminary Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and a preliminary Summary of Map Actions (SOMA) to review the accuracy and completeness of maps within 30-45 days followed by 90-day appeal period process.
